Code of Conduct

Project Talab

Last updated: 30 May 2026

Effective from: 18 May 2026

Project Talab is a community founded on trust, sincerity, and the pursuit of beneficial knowledge. This Code of Conduct sets out the commitments each member of our community makes to one another and to the platform.

By creating an account, you accept this Code of Conduct and commit to upholding it in your conduct on Project Talab. The commitments below apply to all users — students and teachers alike — except where a specific section identifies otherwise.

Project Talab operates within the mainstream Sunni Islamic tradition. All teaching and learning on the platform takes place within this tradition, and all users — students and teachers alike — acknowledge and accept this scope by joining the platform.

1. Respect for People

لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ

“None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.”

(Bukhari and Muslim)

  • I will treat teachers, students, and Project Talab staff with respect, courtesy, and good adab in all communications.
  • I will not engage in harassment, abuse, threats, or discriminatory behaviour toward any user.
  • I will not use offensive, inflammatory, or sectarian language toward any individual or community.

2. Honesty and Integrity

إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ

“Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise.”

(Bukhari and Muslim)

  • I will provide truthful information about my identity, background, and circumstances on the platform.
  • I will not misrepresent my gender, age, qualifications, or credentials in any way.
  • I will not impersonate another person or create multiple accounts to use the platform.

3. Platform Integrity

الْمُسْلِمُونَ عَلَى شُرُوطِهِمْ

“Muslims are bound by their conditions.”

(Abu Dawud, 3594)

  • I will conduct all bookings, payments, and lesson-related communications through Project Talab.
  • I will not solicit or accept arrangements outside the platform, including off-platform payments or contact.
  • I will report misconduct, abuse, or platform breaches to Project Talab admin in good faith.

4. Gender and Modesty

الْحَيَاءُ مِنَ الإِيمَانِ

“Haya' (modesty) is part of faith.”

(Bukhari and Muslim)

  • I will respect the platform's gender hard rule and will not attempt to circumvent it.
  • I will dress modestly and behave appropriately during lessons appearing on video.
  • I will keep communications focused on learning and avoid private exchanges unrelated to the subject being taught.

5. Privacy and Trust

الْمَجَالِسُ بِالأَمَانَةِ

“Gatherings are entrusted (with confidentiality).”

(Abu Dawud)

  • I will not record, screenshot, or share any lesson content or message without the explicit consent of all parties involved.
  • I will respect the privacy of teachers, students, and any personal information shared on the platform.

Accountability

Project Talab takes commitments seriously. Breaches of this Code of Conduct are reviewed under the platform's tiered consequences framework set out in our Terms and Conditions:

Minor breach (first occurrence) — formal warning, with an opportunity to discuss the matter with Project Talab admin.

Repeated minor breach, or a single significant breach— temporary account suspension of 7 to 30 days, at Project Talab's discretion.

Severe breach, or repeated significant breach — permanent account termination.

You may submit a single written appeal to admin@projecttalab.com within 14 days of any decision affecting your account. The full procedure is set out in Section 11 of our Terms and Conditions.

As someone seeking to learn or teach the Islamic sciences, this is an amaanah you carry — both to those you interact with on this platform, and to the knowledge being transmitted. May Allah ﷻ accept it from us and bless it in our community.
